I’m Brandi C. Harmon, a proud Jackson State University graduate, licensed Master Barber Stylist with over 25 years of experience, and owner of Expanded Your Hairizons for more than a decade. With a Master’s degree in Teaching, a Specialist in Educational Leadership, and 15 years in the classroom, I’ve dedicated my life to education, community, and cultural care. I’m also a current doctoral student at Trevecca Nazarene University, preparing to defend my dissertation in July 2026, where I explore how social media impacts the growth of Black-owned beauty brands.

This blog was born from a deep need—not just to style hair, but to protect the people who wear it. Here, we uncover what’s often left off the label: the chemicals, the consequences, and the corporate silence surrounding synthetic hair products that disproportionately affect Black communities.
